Team Rajasthan Royals beat MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings by 32 runs in CSK vs RR match. This was the 37th match of the ongoing IPL 2023 season. The match was held in Jaipur at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on April 27, Thursday. Rajasthan Royals was the home team in match 37 CSK vs RR.

Rajasthan based franchise won the toss and chose to bat first in the match. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal supported his team with a brilliant half-century. Yashasvi Jaiswal made his third half-century of this IPL season with some of his stunning strokeplays. He scored a 77 run score in just 43 balls.

Rajasthan’s remaining top-order batters failed to deliver a good score. Whereas Dhruv Jurel helped the team with some much-needed runs to move forward in the game by scoring 34 runs in 15 balls.

Rajasthan established a target of 202 runs in 20 overs. It was the first time in the IPL history that Sawai Mansingh Stadium saw a 200+ score.

For Super Kings, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 47 runs from 29 balls. However, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, and Ambati Rayudu failed in batting and couldn’t help in continuing the game.

Shivam Dube made a half-century, and helped contributing 52 runs for his team. But it wasn’t enough for CSK as it finished the match at 170/6 in 20 overs. RR spinners dominated the match initially, with Ravichandran Ashwin and Adam Zampa dismissing two and three players respectively.

With this win, Sanju Samson led team Royals have become the new table-toppers in this IPL 2023. Whereas MS Dhoni led Chennai has slipped to third position.

Notably, both of the teams are at 10 points at this moment. RR has a net run rate of 0.939, whereas CSK stands at 0.376 in terms of NRR.

Notably, this match caught viewers attention at several points. These are:

1. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s switch-hit

Rajasthan’s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played a number of brilliant strokes during his attention holding knock. Also, there was one particular stroke that grabbed the viewers attention.

MS Dhoni brought Ravindra Jadeja to bowl in the seventh over, hoping to get a breakthrough in the match. Jaiswal also didn’t shy away from attacking Jadeja as he was dishing out a switch hit on Jadeja’s fourth ball.

The ball was sent even outside the off-stump. Jaiswal switched his stance and sent the ball over the boundary for a six.

2. MS Dhoni’s direct hit 

played fantastic in terms of encountering. He put Chennai in pressure in the final over of first innings by smashing the first two balls for a six and a four.

However, he came off strike as he took a single on his third ball. Matheesha Pathirana bowled and Jurel attempted to go for a run and ran off for a single quickly.

MS Dhoni jumped to his right to restrict the ball and also completed a direct hit to send Dhruv Jurel back to the pavilion.

3. Ravichandran Ashwin and his twin strikes

RR’s spinner R Ashwin shifted the whole game in the 11th over of the run chase, as he dismissed CSK’s players Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayudu.

Rahane was the first victim for Ashwin. Rahane stepped out in an attempt to hit a shot. He failed miserably to get the desired result and ended up being caught by RR’s Jos Buttler.

It is worth noting that it was the sixth time in his own ten innings that R Ashwin has dismissed Rahane in the IPL.

Rayudu, who came as an impact player, walked out to bat at 5th position after Rahane’s wicket.

Rayudu played a slog sweep shot on his second ball. He got a decent connection, but at the last ended up hitting straight to Jason Holder.
