Team India have been patient with Pujara till the last WTC cycle but for now Cheteshwar Pujara has been dropped out of the announced squad. He was expected to lead the World Test Championship batting part as he has an abundance of experience in the field of County championship which was before the WTC final. But to the disappointment, he failed in both of the innings. Cheteshwar Pujara is considered hard to make comeback any time soon.
Young sensations like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad did well in the IPL 2023 season. Jaiswal made fastest IPL half century this season for the team Rajasthan Royals with his personal total of 625 runs. Whereas Ruturaj Gaikwad did well with the batting for the current and 5 times champions Chennai Suer Kings. Gaikwad made 590 runs till the end of IPL 2023 season.
Comeback man Ajinkya Rahane is now appointed as the vice captain for India’s WI tour. He handled up the WTC final part well lately.
WicketKeepers
Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat
The absence of players like KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant automatically gives Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat the duty to handle up the wicketkeeping part. KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant both are recovering from their respective injuries. There is no other option available in the our domestic circuit that can replace them. So, calling it a lack of alternatives Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat are the best players for now who can handle Test cricket.
All- rounders
Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur
Coming to the all-rounders of Team India the same names of Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur will be followed. All of them were a part of the WTC Final. They can now display their skills on wickets of West Indies tour. Previously in West Indies tour Axar and Shardul were not a part of the Test squad.
Bowlers
Jaydev Unadkat, Mohammed Siraj and Mukesh Kumar
Coming to the bowlers now, Team India is now getting in Mukesh Kumar as the replacement of player Umesh Yadav who is already 35 is not getting better at the game.
Apart from him, other pacers will be there as the prime pacers for the Team India. While Mohammed Siraj will be leading with the pace duties in the core absence of injured player Jasprit Bumrah. Jaydev Unadkat will be playing as an another important pacer.
Mohammed Shami is given complete rest now after his 3 month back to back hectic competitive events.
