Rajasthan Royals beat the Punjab Kings in a PBKS vs RR match by four wickets in their last league match of Indian Premier League (IPL). The match was held at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium located in Dharamsala. With this win, Rajasthan has managed to stay alive in the playoffs whereas PBKS is now officially knocked out.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to ball first. RR allowed PBKS to get up from a 50/4 to a target of 187 runs. Chasing 188 runs, Jaiswal gave Rajasthan a confident start initially. He smashed Sam Curran for three successive fours in the first over of the match. 50’s from Yashasvi Jaiswal (50 runs in 36 balls) and Devdutt Padikkal (51 runs from 30 balls), had a brilliant combination with a knock from Shimron Hetmyer. This lifted Rajasthan to a much-needed win in 19.4 overs of the match. They are now waiting for the result of the other matches to check whether they will be able finish in the top four of IPL 2023.

Some attention grabbing moments in PBKS vs RR match were as follows:

1. RR’s Jos Buttler’s 5th duck of this IPL season:

Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler was in full form of his last IPL season of life. He was given the Orange Cap in IPL 2022 season. After then he has played a big role in RR’s journey. Fans expected more from Jos Buttler in IPL 2023, but this RR opener wasn’t able to match up the expectations.

He has recorded five ducks in this 2023 tournament, with his half century coming in the last match against the Punjab Kings. Rabada dismissed Jos for an LBW and also caught him in front of the stumps on the very fourth ball that he gave. He also had a hat-trick of ducks in this IPL season with this dismissal.

2. Yuzvendra Chahal bowling one of the most expensive over of his career in IPL

Yuzvendra Chahal is now the most successful bowler in the tournament history. The right-arm leg-spinner now has attained the top spot in the list of bowlers with the most number of wickets in the IPL’s history.

However, he had a bad night in Dharamshala against PBKS. Chahal gave 40 runs in his own four overs, and that too wicketless. 28 of the runs came in his fourth over.

Shahrukh Khan and Sam Curran smashed three 6’s and two 4’s in the 19th over of the match inning. Chahal also gave PBKS a single and a wide, making it one of the most expensive over of his career in IPL.

3. Riyan Parag smashing 6s twice against Kagiso Rabada

Riyan Parag came back to RR’s playing XI for their last match of league stage against the Punjab Kings. Parag had already received a lot of criticism from the fans for successive failures in the tournament initially.

This RR player did not disappoint his fans this time as he smacked two sixes from the very first two balls bowled by Kagiso Rabada. While Rabada dismissed Riyan Parag on the last ball, but his two sixes changed the momentum in Rajasthan’s favor. The team Rajasthan Royals eventually won their last league match of IPL 2023 match against PBKS.

Saini stand for Rajasthan Royals with the ball was amazing with a claim of 3/40. In the chasing part, Padikkal and Jaiswal scored fine half centuries, while Hetmyer was able to contribute crucial 46 in the match.

For Punjab Kings, Sam Curran, Jitesh and Shahrukh were able to contribute in 40s. Rabada also picked up two wickets in the ball part.

Although, Padikkal was chosen as the Player of the Match for his performance in the chase part.
